Teeth are coming

Megan definitely has one of her bottom teeth coming in. The daycare teacher thought she saw both of them but I only see the one so far. Megan has been a little crabby and refusing to eat. I hope that once the teeth fully come in she will return to her usualy happy, hungry self.

I'm really hoing that it isn't the ear infection sticking around that is making her not feel well. She likes being held a lot and cries when you aren't right next to her. Although I love to hold my baby, I want her to smile when I'm not holding her.

Christmas Weekend

While at Shawn's parents, Megan threw up twice on me and once on Shawn. She also had quite the blowout on the way back to Madison. As soon as we got home, Megan went straight to the bathtub.

For Christmas Megan got lots of great toys, slippers and a little money for her college fund. We also talked about the excitement for the big wedding in 2 weeks. Auntie Amy will finally officially be Megan's aunt.

More ear trouble

Shawn said Megan was pulling on her ears Sunday but she was acting fine so we didn't worry too much. She was a little more tired than usual, but she also missed a nap.

Monday morning she seemed fine so we took her to daycare. I got a call around lunch time that she had been crying all morning but eating fine. I called after lunch to see if she had improved and she was doing much better but still not as happy as usual. I figured if I could get a doctor appointment toward the end of the day (and not miss too much work) that I would take it. The last appointment of the day was 4:20 so I took it.

Daycare thought that Megan's ear infection might not have cleared up yet. Megan had an appointment to have her ears looked at again in 3 days so I knew ear infection was a possibility.

When the doctor checked the first ear, it was fine. When Megan finally cooperated to have her second ear looked at, sure enough it was infected. They prescribed some more antibiotics and said this one is going to be tougher on her stomach.

Poor baby! I hope she gets better soon.

So the question is, did she have a new ear infection or did she still have her old ear infection. Probably something we will never know.

Pumping sessions at work cancelled

I finally broke down and cancelled the rest of my mother's room meetings at work. I am no longer in major pain. At this point, it is just a little bit of discomfort. There is still some milk, which I discovered in the shower this morning but hopefully it will dry up soon.

In other news, Megan came home with bright red cheeks, chin and forehead today. Daycare said that she turned red after they wiped her face after dinner. They think it might be the laundry detergent they use so they sent home all of her sheets and blankets to wash in our more gentle detergent. Megan was still in a good mood so I'm not too concerned, just puzzled. Shawn has sensitive skin in the winter so it could just be sensitive skin. It might be an allergy to the food they gave her too. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Done Nursing/Pumping

I had wanted to be done nursing/pumping at the end of November but it took a little longer than that to stop. During November, I slowly cut down to 1 morning, 1 afternoon and 1 evening pump and nursing Megan at lunch. It didn't take long at that point for Megan to decide she only wanted bottles. And not only did she only want bottles, she had to hold them herself. I think she didn't like nursing anymore because she wanted to be independent and that was ok with me; I understand that she is growing up. That brought me down to 3 pumps a day. Over Thanksgiving, I got pretty sick at Shawn's parents house and I cut down to 1 pump in the morning and 1 pump in the evening. Once I got better and the milk started to come back I slowly cut down to 0 pumps a day. I do admit I have had to pump for a few minutes every couple of days to relieve the pressure and I have been using lots of ice. When I do pump, I have been getting less than an ounce. So I think it is safe to say that within the next few weeks, the milk should be gone. Now let's just hope the freezer doesn't die!!! We have approx 1500 ounces in the outside freezer plus a few shelves full in the inside freezer.

9 Month Checkup

Megan saw the doctor today and LOVED that there were no shots! Her ear infection is improving but isn't perfect yet. The doctor wants to see us again in a few weeks to check on it. Megan's weight gain was good but it took a few times of measuring her length before they decided that she had grown 1 inch taller.

The doctor was just a little concerned that Megan is not crawling or standing up yet and has no interest in doing so. When you try to stand Megan up, she just pulls her legs up. When she is on her belly, she will push backwards but she doesn't go forward and she doesn't put her butt in the air. The doctor wants us to call if Megan is still not interested in crawling/standing in a month. At that point she will send Megan to therapy to get a few suggestions for crawling. I was kind of loving the fact that Megan isn't moving yet - it makes things a lot easier on me :-)

Before the doctor appointment, we stopped at Burger King to have our first meal out together. Megan got an order of pancakes. The high chair doesn't have a tray so I tried to feed Megan pancake pieces. She wanted nothing to do with me feeding her. I had to put the pieces in her hand and then she put them in her mouth. It was so cute watching her be little miss independent.

First ear infection

Saturday afternoon Megan was pretty crabby. Shawn's mom rocked her while she slept. Sunday Megan kept rubbing her eyes like she was tired but would not take a nap. She would only sleep while being held. She was coughing and had a stuffed nose. In the evening, she had a slight fever so we gave Megan some Tylenol and she was doing a lot better. Monday morning we gave her some more Tylenol and sent her to day care. Around 10, they called to say she had thrown up and had to go home. They suggested that I take her to the doctor because she just seemed so sick.

After waiting almost an hour for the doctor, she took one look at the goop in Megan's eyes and guessed ear infection. She looked in her ears and said they were really bad. The doctor said they could drain. She gave us some oral antibiotics and some eye drops. I'm so glad that I took her to the doctor. I never saw Megan rub her ears and I never would have guessed ear infection. The pharmacy at the doctor's office didn't have the eye drops so they called in the medicine to Walgreens. I was very specific as to which walgreens I wanted so I was annoyed when I arrived and they told me that I had to go to the other one to pick up the medicine. Three hours after we left home, my sick baby was finally home to get her bottle and some medicine.

Poor Megan has to stay home tomorrow and luckily Shawn will stay home with her. It was unfortunate that I had to leave work early today. It was my 5 year anniversary at work and we had a big lunch planned. We were lucky that we were able to cancel the order in time. But the cake is now sitting in my boss's cabinet waiting for us to eat tomorrow.

AmFam Breakfast

Shawn's mom, Char, and I took Megan to the holiday breakfast that American Family has ever year. There are a ton of characters to take pictures with including Santa, reindeer, winter penguin, Clifford, etc. We got some good pictures with Megan. There are a ton of decorations and a free buffet breakfast. There is face painting, tattoos, and entertainment. After Char and I ate breakfast (and Megan had a few cheerios) I thought Megan was past due for a diaper change. I didn't see any changing tables at work and I forgot to bring in my changing pad so I didn't want to change Megan on the counter. I thought that I would just grab some papertowels and go into the conference room and change her on the carpet. I put the papertowels down and just pulled her pants down instead of take them and her shoes off. I was trying to be quick about it. Right as I got her very full diaper off, Megan decided to pee everywhere. It went through the paper towel and got some on her shirt and possibly a little on the carpet. I decided to just quickly finish changing, get her dressed, and get out of there!

Hanukah Art

I went to Megan's daycare to join her while she did some painting. I heard that she loved it so I was excited to see her do it.

Using purple paint. This painting was made with love for Bubbie! Of course Megan had to take a bite. That is her signature :-)

Happy Hanukah

Megan enjoyed her first night of Hanukah even if she was a little sleepy. She fell asleep on the way home from daycare-she never does that. And she stayed asleep when I brought the car seat in the house.
After she woke up, we lit the candles and she opened her first gift. It was a toy drum. Megan enjoyed pounding on it.

Here she is opening her gift
